The relationship between you and a coach is unique. There are many different models of working with a coach. For personal coaching, the relationship may take the following form:
- You meet on a regularly basis for between one and two hours. The regularity can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your needs.
- The meeting is face to face, or it may be via telephone or video link.
- The initial term is between three and six sessions. This is re-negotiated at the end of the term.
- Each session has a focus – what you want to get out of it. This focus can naturally change through the session, and your coach will identify this with you.
- The session is a dialogue. You are the expert in your life, not your coach. Your coach cannot tell you how to live your life. Your coach can, however, help you identify how you can live your life the way you want to.
- The session is confidential.
For executive coaching, the relationship may take the following form:
- You meet on a monthly or quarterly basis for up to half a day or full day.
- The meeting is face to face, at your work place or off-site.
- The initial term is between three and six sessions. This is re-negotiated at the end of the term.
- The meeting may be to work with you individually, or to work with your team.
- Each session has a focus – what you want to get out of it. This focus can naturally change through the session, and your coach will identify this with you.
